Nail Art 2023 Trends
Last year, Hailey Bieber inspired us all with her gorgeous donut chrome nails; aura nails became the must-have manicure of summer; velvet nail polish became an all-over gothic beauty trend; while velvet was everywhere. But there are even more captivating mani trends out there this year to try!
Try mixing sheer or opaque pink shades with metal finishes for an eye-catching gleam.
1. Marble Nails
This spring, try out an eye-catching blue marble manicure on your nails – this design looks particularly captivating on long coffin nails!
Marble nail designs are becoming more fashionable thanks to celebrities such as Megan Thee Stallion wearing them. Plus, this look can easily be created at home!
Start by wiping your nails clean with acetone and pushing back any cuticles, before gathering a cup or bowl of room temperature water and submerging each nail one-by-one in it (nail first).
Once you’ve mastered the technique, any color can be used in your designs. Metallic and espresso hues are particularly fashionable as they fit the overall 2023 look of natural shapes with maximum style pops. Other popular nail colors include duo finish French nails inspired by hot cocoa colors or velvet tips – among many other options!
2. Graphic Designs
As graphic designs continue to gain in popularity in 2023, nails are taking on more geometric forms that complement modern and minimalist looks. Instead of opting for the traditional ombre style, this nail trend features clean lines and geometric patterns on its nails to make them truly stand out.
Black is the classic hue for nail graphics; however, other hues can create more subdued and refined looks, or try neutral tones like white for an elegant effect. Additionally, try leaving parts of your nail unpainted for an unexpected and eye-catching design!
Other nail trends to watch out for include aura nails, nail freckles, velvet tips, French manicures with curved or skinny tips in earthy colors, mismatched hands and retro florals – these designs may reflect your individuality better. There’s sure to be one out there that perfectly captures it! With such a variety of art designs to try you are bound to find one that speaks your own.
3. Natural Looks
Natural-looking nail art has experienced a recent revival. Celebrities such as Margot Robbie wore this style at the 2023 Golden Globes and it can make an effective statement, but remains subtle enough for minimalists looking for ways to elevate their manis. Try earthy hues like moss green and burnt neutral for added dimension.
“Iridescent nails are set to make an impactful statement this year,” notes Gerstein. For an elegant take on this trend, polishes such as LECHAT Dare to Wear Olivia and Orly Can’t Jet Enough offer luxurious shine that adds shimmer and pearlescence.
Micro-manis are set to become an increasingly trendy trend this year. From French manicures with small flowers and minimalist shapes to delicate “micro-manis,” delicate micro-manis are a fantastic option for those who prefer simpler nail designs. Salons often use specialty nail polish that creates this jelly-like finish, or you can do it yourself by layering matte and glossy top coats over your base color to achieve this look.
4. Blinged-Out Manis
An individual’s nails reveal much about their aesthetic taste. While minimalistic and natural looks remain popular, 2018 nail trends provide plenty of bold options for those who enjoy making statements with their nail art.
Hemi Park, LeChat nails educator and celebrity manicurist, predicts metallic manicures as one of the top trends to watch out for in 2023. “We will see all kinds of gold overlays with 3D designs like hearts, stars and french tip illusion nails,” according to her statement to TZR.
She predicts we’ll continue to see an increasing popularity of textured designs, including tinted clear polishes (commonly referred to as jelly polish) over textured and glitter manis for an eye-catching splash of color. Furthermore, holographic nails crafted using finely cut holographic foil is making a comeback, creating the appearance of glass fragments on nails.
For an understated way to wear the bling trend, try an allover ombre design of small gems or reverse French with crystals hugging your cuticle line. Whatever look you choose, be sure to keep your nails healthy by applying cuticle oil regularly.
