Quannah Chasinghorse’s Punky 2023 Met Gala Look Has Tons of Hidden Details — See the Photos
Model and activist Quannah Chasinghorse is one of our favorite celebrities to watch at the Met Gala, and her 2023 look did not disappoint. The model and former Allure cover star hit the red carpet with long, loose waves worn draped over one shoulder and down her back, with several small braids at her temples. The waves were parted to one side and accented with a small white feather, matching her dangling black and white beaded heart earrings and choker necklace. The jewels were made by Indigenous designer Sota Scowi Designs and made with porcupine quills, pearls, beads and silver, Chasinghorse told Teen Vogue.
Chasinghorse paired the waves with a pastel pink sequined Prabal Gurung gown with a cutout bodice and full tulle skirt and elbow-length black Vex Latex opera gloves decorated with pink and white beaded bows and flowers. Matching pale pink eye shadow was brushed across her lids, then smoked up with lots of eyeliner and a strip of fluttery false lashes for a punk rock princess effect. Warm pink blush and a vibrant hot pink glossy lip. (On the red carpet, Chasinghorse told Allure that lip gloss is the one makeup item she can’t live without!)
The model’s hair was styled by Paul Mitchell Artistic Director Paula Peralta; Chasinghorse is a global ambassador for the hair care brand. Peralta prepped Chasinghorse’s damp hair with the brand’s Sculpting Foam, then blew her hair dry. Peralta braided the left side, overdirecting hair toward the face, then followed with a second braid in the same manner and a third braid on the right side. Peralta spritzed in some Flexible Style Hot Off the Press Thermal Protection Hairspray for heat protection, then waved each section of Chasinghorse’s hair with Pro Tools Express Ion WavePress Ceramic Deep Waver to create those flowing waves. Peralta used Extra-Body Flexible Finishing Spray for hold and humidity protection, then let the hair cool completely before applying Gloss Drops Shine Serum to the hair to break up the waves and create a soft texture.
