Beauty fans had something quite particular to look forward to this spring: New York’s brand new Makeup Museum has been scheduled to start on May 1 using its introduction display, Pink Jungle: 1950s ) Makeup at America. Because of this coronavirus pandemic, like a lot of occasions, the launch is on hold and people will need to wait a bit longer to find the quest of a previous era’s makeup artifacts and icons. However, in the meantime, the memorial has established an interactive online exhibition of sorts which won’t just delight audiences but additionally cultivate meaningful connections and discussions during this isolated period.

The Makeup Museum has declared Generations of Beauty, that it calls “a digital intergenerational beauty effort to encourage individuals to connect with loved ones round makeup background .” It was crafted specifically as a way to support seniors who may be suffering from loneliness during the pandemic by encouraging younger generations to engage with their elders about their beauty memories.

“We launched our Generations of Beauty campaign to encourage beauty lovers around the world to speak with their loved ones about makeup history,” says Makeup Museum’s co-founder Caitlin Collins, who kicked off the campaign on Instagram with a conversation with her grandmother. “Normally, with life moving so quickly, we may not take the opportunity to collect these personal, and often entertaining and uplifting, beauty accounts. By sparking these conversations now, we can bring a sense of comfort to older generations who may be socially isolated and looking for connection during this uncertain and scary time. You may be surprised what you learn. I know I was!”

Anyone who’d like to submit their own intergenerational beauty interview to the campaign can send a video or photo with a description of the conversation, participants’ full names, and written approval for usage of the content to support@makeupmuseumcom. But even if you don’t have the opportunity to speak to a beloved elder in their attractiveness thoughts, you can still help the Generations of Beauty effort make an important impact. Makeup Museum will donate $1 for every social media comment or like its #GenerationsOfBeauty posts on Instagram this month, up to $10,000, to Meals on Wheels.
